About

The Anti-Austerity Coalition is a cross-party alliance of councillors, trade unions, campaigns and civil society organisations campaigning to reverse austerity in local government.

It was formed at a nation-wide summit hosted by Hackney Council on 9th September 2026.

Who are we?

The Coalition is comprised of councillors, Council administrations, trade unions, campaigns and other civil society groups.

We are run by a Steering Group. The Steering Group will shortly be formalising and announcing itself, and broadening to include trade union branches and regions, and campaigns.
